Sgt. Charles D. Cilley, 52nd Armored Infantry Brigade, 9th Armored Division, was a captured P.O.W. at the Battle of the Bulge and forced to march like thousands of other captured Allied soldiers to one of the 130 satellite concentration camps connected to Buchenwald, Stalag XII-A located in Limburg an der Lahn, Hesse Germany. (Download provenance note from his son)
Click here to download the story of a different Prisoner of War, also confined at the Limburg Concentration Camp Stalag XII-A. Some of his recollections seem to accurately depict the activities recorded in the drawings above by Sgt. Charles D. Cilley.
