This auction sale features the fine furnishings from "Sea Verge", the distinctive North Hampton, NH home at Little Boar's Head built as a summer residence in 1882 by two Cincinnati sisters, Phebe Sophia Baker and Julia Baker Keys, and enjoyed by family members ever since, more recently as a year-round home; Complimentary items of collector quality have been added to the sale from other fine private homes and estates from Maine to Georgia.

TERMS OF SALE FOR ORIENTAL CARPETS : As with all auction merchandise, the Twelve percent Buyer's Premium applies to oriental carpet sales. Unless prospective bidders are known to us and have made financial arrangements with the auctioneer before the date of sale, all oriental rug sales will be by full cash payment at the actual sale of the rug. Those cash rug buyers will leave a $5,000.00 cash deposit with the cashier in order to obtain a bidding number and that amount will be considered as part of the payment for any rug purchases. Any unused deposits will be returned after all the rugs are sold. The auctioneer reserves the right to hold merchandise for those successful bidders who have made prior arrangements until funds are clear. Bidding numbers issued only to those who have previewed the rugs.

Purchased for the Cincinnati house in Italy in the late 19 th c. by brother and sculptor, Nathan Baker, elaborate MID-19 TH C. HEAVILY CARVED FURNITURE : Symbolic human figural and animal-carved credenza, measuring 100 X 72 X 24 in., with crested two-tier back shelf over multi-drawer cabinet. 100 X 52 X 21 in. Figural and animal-carved two-doored, glass-paneled cabinet on bun feet. 64 X 42 X 16 in. carved oak cabinet over 4-column open lower section. Set of ten boar's head and game-carved dining chairs which were used around a 54 in. wide walnut dining table on an acanthus-carved split column base, the leaves extending the piece to large banquet size. Deep relief bird and fern-carved 26 X 31 in. hall seat over cabinet. Pair of 55 in.throne-like armchairs with deep relief rose, cornucopia and acanthus carving. 84 in. tall deep relief carved ecclesiastical throne-like seat.
